Bass Fishing Tips And Tricks
What can I fish with in a small canal that has catfish, bass, and gar?
I’ve caught a very very small like 5 inch catfish and over the passed 3-4 days I’ve fished for like 20 hours and I’m so desperate to catch a fish I will catch any fish in there with a pulse. I’ve been using 2-3 inch worms or fake red, yellow, and blue minnow shaped bait. I’ve been using a cork like 2-4 feet above the hook (and the canal is like 6 feet deep in the middle). I have corn and access to worms so what should I fish with and how should I fish? Thanks and provide any other tips and tricks.
If you want a catfish try getting some chicken livers and putting a piece on a big hook( 1inch). Take some sewing thread and wrap it around the liver to secure it other wise it will wash off or fly off when you cast out. Don’t use a cork or bobbin, take a decent size weight and put it on your line before the hook. Catfish generally feed off the bottom so that’s where you will catch them. You might can get them off a worm on the bottom as well, but liver is better.
Gar will eat whatever has blood. The only problem is they have teeth and its hard to keep a hook in their mouth. Plus they kind of nibble on the food before the swallow it and you have to time it just right. I wouldn’t suggest going after these.
Bass are going to be attracted to lures most of the time over worms. If you can master the art of working the lure you can catch a bass, they are just picky fish.
Judging by your name I guess you are in Alabama like me. Brim will eat worms and are the easiest to catch if there is any kind of cover in the water you can get brim or bass in that area. Hope this helps you out.
